What Is Your Therapist Thinking For?
After many sessions of therapy sometimes you can wondering what my therapy is thinking for? Well, your therapy is a human too, sometimes he get bored or if he think you are not honest or not serious. Cancel at the last minute or play on your phone before you waste your time. The reality are coming up by strategies and exercices that you can be yourself and transparent.
There are things all therapist are thinking for but they cannot tell you:
1- They never offer one advice:
If you pay your therapist and you think he can help you to come out from your real problems or can make you change your emotions for better by giving you an advice to take a good decision, definitely you are wrong because the job of the therapist is only to listen to you not to make you choose an effective decision it is not that process. If you need advice go to a friend not your therapist.
2- Trusting them:
Open up to someone (therapist) and talk to them is not easy. Many of us are a fear what is said will leave the office. It can be treating as an ethical violation if he talk about it to his friend. The only the person can discuss about his sessions to another therapy without revealing the identity, is called "talking cases".
3- They think you are lying:
When you discussed your case with your therapist, why he think you are lying? Because you are telling them thing and feelings by your own perspective and they assume there are another side of the story. If you were playing with your hair, repeating questions, speaking in fragments, being fear from judging your story because they are some gestures of human behavior that psychology shared about how grooming behaviors indicates lies. "So don't waste your time".
4- Helping your therapist:
Therapists won't have the perfect answers, the value in therapy is being honest and work to yourself with what you learned from therapy's sessions. Thinking as a team not just lear on your counselor but no matter what your therapist might think for there are a positive results.
5- Really!!!Therapist don't know exactly what to say and do.
Your therapist can help to understand and lead you to a fulfilling life but doesn't mean they can help you for what you need, they can be flexible and open-minded. The first person you see for therapy doesn't have to be the one you countinue to see.
